State Government
Every person appointed a High Court Judge shall, before entering office, make and subscribe before the Governor of the State (or a person appointed by him) an oath or affirmation in the prescribed form.
This mirrors Article 124(6) (Supreme Court Judges' oath) at the state level, but administered by the Governor rather than a judicial figure - a High Court judge's oath is taken before the state's Governor.
This is why a newly-appointed High Court judge's swearing-in ceremony is typically conducted by that state's Governor, unlike a Supreme Court judge whose oath is administered by the President.
