reportscams.in exists to protect Indians from fraud. Every person who uses this platform — to report, to ask, to answer, to warn, or to build a joint case — is part of that mission. These guidelines exist to make sure the platform stays honest, stays safe, and stays powerful.
These are not bureaucratic rules. They are the line between a platform that protects people and one that can be abused to hurt them. Read them once. Remember the ones that matter.
What You Can and Should Do
- Report scams you have personally experienced or directly observed, with as much detail as possible
- Share phone numbers, UPI IDs, website URLs, company names, and Telegram/WhatsApp group links linked to fraud
- Upload screenshots of scam conversations, fake offer letters, fraudulent payment requests, and other evidence
- Ask genuine questions about whether something is a scam
- Answer questions based on your real experience or verified knowledge
- Share official helpline numbers, legal information, and filing guidance to help other victims
- Join victim group rooms if you are a victim of the same scammer — contribute evidence, coordinate a joint case
- Warn others in your language — share reports with your community
Prohibited Content — What Is Never Allowed
The following categories of content are strictly prohibited on reportscams.in. Posting any of this content violates these guidelines, may result in account suspension, and in serious cases, will be reported to law enforcement.
1. False or fabricated reports
Submitting a report you know to be false — against a competitor, an enemy, an ex-partner, or anyone you know has not actually scammed anyone — is a serious criminal offence under IPC Sections 499 and 500 (Defamation), punishable with up to 2 years imprisonment. It also violates IPC Section 182 (providing false information). We treat false reporting as the most serious violation of these guidelines.
2. Personal information of innocent third parties
Never share the home address, workplace address, family members' details, or photographs of people who have not been reported as scammers. If your evidence contains personal details of innocent people (e.g. a bank statement with your family member's name), redact those details before uploading.
3. Adult, obscene, or sexually explicit content
reportscams.in does not host or display adult content under any circumstances. If you are reporting a fraud that involved adult content (Telegram adult scams, deepfake extortion), your report must describe the fraud mechanism — not contain or link to the actual content. Image uploads are technically blocked for these categories. Zero tolerance — any bypass attempt is logged and the account is immediately suspended.
4. Images of persons under 18 years of age
Never upload photographs, screenshots, or any images involving minors. If a scam case involves exploitation of a minor, do not post it here — report immediately to cybercrime.gov.in and NCPCR (National Commission for Protection of Child Rights). This platform will do the same upon discovery, as required by the POCSO Act.
5. Deepfake and AI-generated images
Never upload or share AI-generated images, deepfake photographs, or manipulated images of any person. These cannot be verified, may constitute a criminal act under IT Act Section 66E and 67, and will be immediately removed. If you are a victim of deepfake extortion, report by text description only.
6. Harassment, threats, and intimidation
Do not use this platform to threaten, intimidate, or harass any person — including the subjects of reports. reportscams.in is for warning and legal coordination, not for vigilante action or revenge. Posts that call for physical action against any individual will be immediately removed and the account reported to police.
7. Content threatening national security or public order
Content that threatens national security, sovereignty, integrity, or public order, or that promotes terrorism, communal violence, or secession is strictly prohibited and will be immediately removed and reported to relevant authorities.
8. Intellectual property violations
Do not reproduce copyrighted material in full — articles, reports, or content from other publications — without permission. Summarise and link instead.
9. Spam and coordinated inauthentic behaviour
Do not create multiple accounts to inflate corroboration scores on any report. Do not run coordinated campaigns to target a business or individual with bulk false reports. Our automated pattern detection will flag these and all associated accounts will be suspended.
10. Impersonation
Do not impersonate law enforcement officers, government officials, judges, bank officers, platform staff, or any other person. Impersonation is a criminal offence under IPC Section 170.
11. Commercial spam and advertisements
Do not use Q&A, discussion boards, or group rooms to advertise products, services, or other platforms. This includes unsolicited promotion of legal services, financial products, or any commercial offering.

Counter-Report and Dispute Process
If you believe a report filed against you is false, fabricated, or defamatory, you can file a counter-report through the dispute mechanism on the scammer profile page. We investigate all disputes fairly and resolve them within 15 days. Both the original report and the counter-report are displayed side by side until the investigation is complete.
Filing a counter-report is your right. It is also one of the ways this platform demonstrates neutrality and good faith to any court.
