Offences Against Women and Children
If a woman dies from burns, bodily injury, or otherwise abnormally within 7 years of marriage, and it's shown she was subjected to cruelty/harassment by her husband or his relatives for dowry shortly before death, this is a "dowry death" and that husband/relative is deemed to have caused it - punished with 7 years to life imprisonment.
This creates a specific, powerful legal presumption for cases of dowry-related death: if a woman dies unnaturally within 7 years of marriage after being subjected to dowry-related cruelty, the law presumes her husband or his relatives caused her death, shifting the practical burden onto the accused to explain the circumstances.
This is the key legal provision used to prosecute dowry-related deaths in India, where the specific evidentiary presumption (unnatural death within 7 years of marriage, plus prior dowry-related cruelty) significantly aids prosecution of what can otherwise be very difficult cases to prove.
