General Provisions
The right of private defence of property extends to voluntarily causing death (or other harm) to a wrongdoer, for: robbery; house-breaking at night; arson/explosive-based mischief against an inhabited dwelling or property-storage building/vessel; or theft/mischief/house-trespass under circumstances reasonably threatening death or grievous hurt if the right isn't exercised.
This lists the specific serious property crimes - robbery, nighttime house-breaking, arson against occupied buildings, or property crimes that also genuinely threaten death or serious injury - for which lethal force in defence of property is legally permitted.
Someone confronting a robber, or a night-time house-breaker, may in principle use lethal force in defence under this section, given robbery and nighttime house-breaking are specifically among the serious property crimes justifying that level of response.
