General Provisions
The right of private defence of the body begins as soon as a reasonable apprehension of danger arises from an attempt or threat to commit the offence (even before it's actually committed), and continues as long as that apprehension continues.
You don't have to wait to actually be attacked before defending yourself - the right to defend kicks in as soon as a genuine, reasonable threat is apparent, and lasts exactly as long as that danger genuinely persists (no longer).
If someone credibly threatens imminent violence against you, your right to defend yourself begins at that point of reasonable apprehension - you don't need to wait until the actual physical attack begins.
