Criminal Intimidation, Insult, Annoyance and Defamation
Intentionally insulting someone, thereby provoking them, intending or knowing likely to cause a breach of public peace or another offence, is punished with up to 2 years' imprisonment, fine, or both.
This criminalises deliberately provocative insults specifically intended or likely to trigger a public-order breach.
Deliberately insulting someone in a way calculated to provoke a violent public confrontation is an offence under this section, separate from the confrontation itself if it actually occurs.
