False Evidence and Offences Against Public Justice
Intentionally resisting/obstructing another person's lawful apprehension, or rescuing/attempting to rescue them from lawful custody, is punished based on the underlying offence's severity: up to 2 years (base case), up to 3 years plus fine (life/10-year offences), up to 7 years plus fine (death-punishable offences or persons already sentenced to life/10+ years), or life/up to 10 years plus fine (persons under death sentence).
This is the third-party version of resisting arrest - helping SOMEONE ELSE evade lawful apprehension or escape custody - with penalty tiers scaled to the seriousness of that other person's case.
Someone who violently helps a death-row convict escape lawful custody faces this section's most severe penalty tier, given the gravity of the person being helped to escape.
