False Evidence and Offences Against Public Justice
Intentionally resisting/illegally obstructing one's own lawful apprehension for a charged or convicted offence, or escaping/attempting escape from lawful custody, is punished with up to 2 years' imprisonment, fine, or both - in ADDITION to the punishment for the underlying offence.
This is a separate, additional offence for resisting your own lawful arrest, stacked on top of whatever punishment applies to the original crime you're accused of.
Someone who violently resists being lawfully arrested faces this additional offence on top of the underlying charge that led to the arrest attempt.
