False Evidence and Offences Against Public Justice
A public servant legally bound to apprehend/confine someone charged with (or liable to be apprehended for) an offence, who intentionally fails to apprehend them, lets them escape, or helps them escape, is punished based on the underlying charge's severity: up to 7 years (death-punishable), up to 3 years (life/10-year offences), or up to 2 years (lesser offences) - all with or without fine.
This holds officials liable for deliberately failing to arrest or confine someone they're legally required to, with the penalty scaling to how serious the person's underlying alleged crime is.
A police officer who deliberately lets a person charged with a death-punishable offence escape apprehension, despite being legally bound to arrest them, faces this section's highest penalty tier.
