False Evidence and Offences Against Public Justice
A public servant knowingly disobeying a legal direction, intending or knowing likely to save someone from (full) legal punishment, or property from forfeiture/charge, is punished with up to 2 years' imprisonment, fine, or both.
This holds public officials liable for deliberately bending the rules to help a wrongdoer escape or reduce their punishment, or to shield property from lawful forfeiture.
An official who deliberately disregards proper legal procedure specifically to help reduce a defendant's punishment or protect their property from lawful forfeiture commits this offence.
