False Evidence and Offences Against Public Justice
Knowingly harbouring people about to commit or having recently committed robbery/dacoity, intending to facilitate or screen them, is punished with up to 7 years' rigorous imprisonment plus fine - regardless of whether the robbery/dacoity was inside or outside India - except when the harbourer is the offender's spouse.
This is a specifically severe harbouring offence for robbery and dacoity (organised gang robbery), reflecting the serious nature of those crimes.
Knowingly sheltering a gang about to commit a dacoity, or that has recently committed one, carries this section's severe penalty given the serious nature of organised robbery.
