False Evidence and Offences Against Public Justice
Accepting (or attempting/agreeing to accept) gratification or property restitution in exchange for concealing an offence, screening an offender, or not prosecuting someone, is punished based on the underlying offence's severity, mirroring Section 249's scaled tiers.
This criminalises accepting a bribe specifically to protect a criminal from facing justice - essentially, being paid to look the other way.
Accepting money from a criminal specifically in exchange for agreeing not to report them to police, or to otherwise help them escape prosecution, is an offence under this section.
