Offences Relating to Currency and Government Stamps
Making, mending, buying, selling, disposing of, or possessing machinery/dies/instruments/materials for (or believed intended for) forging currency, coin, or Government stamps, is punished with life imprisonment or up to 10 years' imprisonment plus fine.
This targets the counterfeiting supply chain - producing or possessing the actual tools and equipment used to manufacture fake currency - even before any counterfeit item is actually produced.
Possessing specialised printing plates designed for producing counterfeit currency is itself a severe offence under this section, regardless of whether any fake notes have actually been printed yet.
