Offences Relating to Elections
(1) Voluntarily interfering with the free exercise of an electoral right is "undue influence". (2) This specifically includes threatening injury to a candidate/voter (or someone they care about), or inducing belief that they'll face divine displeasure or spiritual censure for their electoral choice. (3) A declaration of public policy, promise of public action, or mere exercise of a legal right without intent to interfere, is not covered.
This criminalises coercing voters or candidates through threats or manipulation - including the specific historical tactic of threatening spiritual/religious consequences for how someone votes.
Threatening a voter with physical harm, or telling them they'll face divine punishment, unless they vote a certain way both constitute undue influence under this section.
