Offences Against the Human Body
(1) Causing hurt to a public servant in the discharge of their duty, or to deter/prevent them, is punished with up to 5 years' imprisonment, fine, or both. (2) Causing grievous hurt for the same purpose is punished with 1-10 years' imprisonment plus fine.
This creates enhanced protection for public servants performing their official duties - assaulting a government official specifically to obstruct or retaliate against their lawful work carries harsher penalties than an equivalent assault on an ordinary private citizen.
Assaulting a tax inspector, police officer, or other government official specifically to prevent them from carrying out their lawful duties triggers this enhanced offence, beyond the ordinary hurt provisions.
