Rajasthan Police register extortion FIR against Inventiva publisher Nitin Naresh; Delhi High Court orders

Legal proceedings have intensified against the publisher of Inventiva, a company named Nine Network Private Limited, and other unnamed individuals following a criminal case registered by Rajasthan Police. The First Information Report includes allegations of extortion, criminal intimidation, conspiracy, and common intention under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023. The investigation is currently underway at the Shastri Nagar Police Station in Jaipur, with an assigned investigating officer examining the claims.

The police case stems from a complaint filed by an India representative of Terra Vision Investments LLC. According to the complaint, communications received in August and September 2026 allegedly contained threats of damaging media publications targeting the investment firm and associated individuals. The complainant alleged these messages were part of an attempt to exert pressure through threats of adverse coverage.

This criminal action follows separate civil proceedings before the Delhi High Court involving individuals linked to Terra Invest. In August and September 2026, the High Court issued interim orders restricting social media circulation of specified articles and restraining the defendants from publishing further articles containing defamatory imputations against founding partners. Authorities emphasize that the High Court orders are interim civil rulings and do not constitute findings on the ongoing criminal investigation in Jaipur.
