DMK functionary killed as goods vehicle rams bike in Chengalpattu

A 58-year-old local political party functionary lost her life when a goods vehicle allegedly rammed into the two-wheeler she was riding with her husband near Chengalpattu in Tamil Nadu. According to police reports, the fatal incident occurred on a Sunday morning as the couple was returning to Chennai after attending a political campaign event in Madurantakam the previous day. The impact of the collision threw both riders onto the road, resulting in severe head injuries for the female passenger who died at the scene.

The victim's husband, who was operating the motorcycle, sustained minor injuries in the crash. Investigators stated that the unidentified goods vehicle had been travelling in the same direction before striking their motorcycle from behind as they crossed a railway overbridge along the Tiruchy-Chennai National Highway. Following the incident, local law enforcement authorities arrived at the location, recovered the body, and transferred it to a government hospital for a postmortem examination.
