Elections
Notwithstanding Article 170, a Governor may, if of the opinion the Anglo-Indian community needs and lacks adequate representation in that State's Legislative Assembly, nominate one member of that community to it.
This mirrors Article 331 at the state level, and is similarly no longer operative: the 104th Amendment (2019, effective January 2020) discontinued this Anglo-Indian nomination provision when its Article 334(b) time limit expired without renewal, even as SC/ST reservation was separately extended.
Prior to 2020, individual State Assemblies could include one nominated Anglo-Indian member each where the Governor deemed representation inadequate - this nomination power ceased to exist once the 104th Amendment took effect.
