Elections
Subject to the Constitution, and to the extent Parliament hasn't already legislated, a State Legislature may by law make its own provisions on matters relating to elections to that state's own Legislature.
This gives State Legislatures a residual, fallback power to legislate on their own state election matters, but only to the extent Parliament hasn't already covered the same ground - in practice, Parliament's Representation of the People Acts cover most significant matters, leaving relatively little room for states to legislate separately.
In practice, this power is rarely exercised significantly, since Parliament's Representation of the People Act already comprehensively covers most election-related matters nationwide, leaving states with limited additional gaps to fill.
