Every co-operative society must file returns within six months of the financial year's close, covering: its annual activity report, audited accounts, surplus disposal plan, bye-law amendments, a declaration on its general body meeting/election timing, and any other information the Registrar requires.
This creates a standard annual reporting obligation, ensuring the relevant government Registrar has up-to-date, comprehensive information about each co-operative society's activities, finances, and governance compliance.
This is why a co-operative society's Registrar (the government official overseeing co-operatives) has, on file, a comprehensive annual snapshot of each registered society's financial health and governance compliance.
