State Government
Every member of a state's Legislative Assembly or Council shall, before taking their seat, make and subscribe before the Governor (or a person appointed by him) an oath or affirmation in the prescribed form.
This mirrors Article 99 at the state level: no MLA or Council member can actually take up their seat until they've taken the prescribed oath, administered by or on behalf of the Governor.
Newly-elected MLAs are formally sworn in - typically by the pro-tem Speaker on the Governor's behalf - before they can vote or otherwise function as members.
