Offences Against Women and Children
Selling, hiring out, or disposing of a child intending (or knowing likely) that they'll be used for prostitution or illicit/unlawful purposes at any age, is punished with up to 10 years' imprisonment plus fine. A presumption of trafficking intent applies when a female under 18 is sold/disposed of to a prostitute or brothel-keeper.
This is a core child-trafficking offence criminalising the sale or transfer of a child for sexual exploitation - with a helpful legal presumption that shifts the burden of proof once a girl under 18 is shown to have been disposed of to a known prostitute or brothel operator.
This built-in legal presumption - that selling a girl under 18 to a brothel operator is presumed to be for prostitution purposes unless proven otherwise - significantly eases prosecution of child trafficking rings, since prosecutors don't need to separately prove the trafficker's specific intent from scratch.
