Offences Relating to Documents
Forging a document purporting to be a valuable security, will, adoption authority, authority to transfer/receive valuable securities or money/property, or a receipt/acquittance for money or property, is punished with life imprisonment or up to 10 years' imprisonment plus fine.
This is the most severely punished forgery category, reserved for forging financial instruments and legal documents with direct monetary consequences - wills, valuable securities, and payment receipts.
Forging a fake share certificate, promissory note, or will carries this section's most severe penalty tier, given the direct and often substantial financial harm such forgeries can cause.
