False Evidence and Offences Against Public Justice
Intentionally resisting/obstructing lawful apprehension (of oneself or another), or escaping/attempting escape, or rescuing/attempting rescue, in a case not covered by Sections 262-263 or other law, is punished with up to 6 months' imprisonment, fine, or both.
This is the catch-all counterpart to Section 264, covering residual resistance/rescue/escape scenarios not specifically addressed elsewhere.
This residual provision provides a baseline penalty for any resistance-to-arrest or rescue-from-custody scenario that doesn't fit neatly into the more specific preceding sections.
