Offences by or Relating to Public Servants
A public servant legally barred from purchasing/bidding for certain property, who does so (personally, in another's name, or jointly), is punished with up to 2 years' simple imprisonment, fine, or both - with the purchased property forfeited.
This prevents public servants from exploiting their official position to improperly acquire property they're legally barred from purchasing (for example, property they're responsible for auctioning), with mandatory forfeiture of anything purchased in violation.
An official responsible for overseeing a property auction who secretly buys the property themselves through a relative's name, despite being legally barred from doing so, faces this offence with mandatory forfeiture of the property.
