Offences Against the Human Body
Using force means causing motion/change/cessation of motion to a person (or a substance that contacts them), through one's own bodily power, by arranging a substance to move without further action, or by inducing an animal to move.
This is a technical definitional building block for the assault-related offences that follow - defining precisely what counts as physically "using force" against someone, regardless of the specific mechanism used.
This broad, mechanism-neutral definition of "force" underlies the more specific criminal-force and assault offences that follow.
