Offences Against the Human Body
If someone commits culpable homicide by causing the death of a person they didn't intend or know they were likely to kill (while intending/knowing they'd likely kill someone), the offence is classified as if they'd killed their actually-intended target.
This is the "transferred intent" doctrine - if you intend to kill one person but accidentally kill someone else instead, you're held to the same level of culpability as if you'd killed your intended target.
Someone who shoots at their intended target but misses and kills a bystander instead is held to the same standard of culpability (murder, if that's what they intended for the original target) as if they'd successfully killed the person they were aiming at.
