'Extortion bid, death threat': Actress Urmila Sanawar arrested on complaint by ex-BJP MLA's daughter

Haridwar police arrested an actress following a complaint lodged by the daughter of a former BJP MLA. Police officials confirmed that the accused was taken into custody on a Sunday.

This development follows recent events where both the former MLA and the arrested actress gave their consent before a CBI court in Dehradun to undergo polygraph and narco-analysis tests. These tests are part of an ongoing investigation into a separate high-profile murder case involving a young receptionist from Pauri Garhwal who was killed in September 2022 by a resort owner and his staff members. The actress had previously released an audio recording linked to that wider controversy, prompting extensive public scrutiny and a CBI probe.
