Law enforcement and intelligence agencies busted an alleged Pakistan-backed terror module with reported links to the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and underworld networks. According to police, the network was in the advanced stages of planning attacks on vital installations, security establishments, religious sites, government offices, and crowded areas in Delhi, Mumbai, and three other cities. The breakthrough began with the arrest of a sharpshooter in Pune, which led investigators to further arrests across multiple states, including Jharkhand, Maharashtra, and Punjab.

Investigators stated that weapons and ammunition, including live grenades and a Glock pistol, were smuggled into India via drones. The recovered cartridges were reportedly of Pakistani origin. Police alleged the operation was directed by handlers based in Pakistan, utilizing local operatives and an underworld network to conduct reconnaissance, record videos of strategic locations like railway stations and bridges, and mobilize teams.

In a separate reported development in Howrah, local investigations led to the arrest of a college student accused of spying on a minister and aiding a suspected militant. Relatives and neighbours expressed surprise, noting a recent change in the student's behaviour. Authorities continue to conduct intensive searches, probe domestic and international funding networks, and track other suspects, including foreign nationals.
