Two more on police radar in suspected IED blast in Bengaluru

A suspected improvised explosive device (IED) explosion occurred at an under-construction building on Jeremaiah Road in Frazer Town, within the Pulakeshinagar police station jurisdiction in Bengaluru. Two workers sustained injuries in the incident when a battery-like object detonated on the upper floor of the building. Police and forensic teams inspected the site, and authorities launched a comprehensive investigation involving special teams, anti-terrorism units, and forensic experts.

Investigators arrested three men—working as a welder, a bakery salesman, and a restaurant kitchen worker, all natives of Assam—who were childhood friends and neighbors of one of the injured workers. Police alleged the blast was a premeditated murder plot stemming from land and financial disputes, as well as a cancelled marriage alliance involving the prime suspect and his injured cousin. The suspects allegedly assembled the IED themselves after researching online.

Authorities have placed two additional individuals on their radar for suspected involvement in logistics and material delivery. The Pulakeshinagar police registered a case under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Explosive Substances Act. Meanwhile, investigators are verifying the backgrounds of the injured workers, awaiting forensic laboratory reports to confirm the exact nature of the explosive materials, and considering whether to invoke anti-terror laws.
