Shooter behind Mad Sandhu's murder arrested in Ahmedabad; cops to probe link with gangster Goldy Dhillon

Amritsar police, in a joint operation with the Gujarat crime branch, arrested six men in connection with the murder of a 29-year-old Punjabi social media influencer and makeup artist known as Mad Sandhu. The victim was shot dead on October 3 by motorcycle-borne assailants while waiting near a car washing centre on Loharka Road in Amritsar.

Investigators traced the suspects through technical surveillance, tracking a financial transaction of Rs 16,000 from a foreign-based gangster network to the bank account of the primary shooter's brother. Police tracked the alleged shooter, Parminder Singh alias Kaka, to Ahmedabad as he was attempting to flee to Mumbai, after tricking him into scanning a QR code.

Apart from the alleged shooter and his brother, authorities arrested four others accused of arranging weapons and conducting recnaissance. Police are probing potential financial backers, individual roles, and an alleged connection to foreign-based gangster Goldy Dhillon, who purportedly claimed responsibility on social media. Authorities are also examining whether a recent online content controversy involving a Nihang jathedar had any connection to the attack.

Not yet reported: The exact motive and the identity of the second shooter remain unconfirmed pending further police interrogation.
