Directive Principles
The State shall, within the limits of its economic capacity and development, make effective provision for securing the right to work, to education and to public assistance in cases of unemployment, old age, sickness and disablement, and in other cases of undeserved want.
Within what it can economically afford, the government should work towards securing the right to work, to education, and to public assistance for people facing unemployment, old age, sickness, disability, or other genuine hardship not of their own making.
Schemes like MGNREGA (which guarantees 100 days of rural employment per year), old-age pension schemes, and disability benefit programmes are the State working to fulfil this directive within its economic means.
