Amendment & Miscellaneous
(1) The President must publish an authoritative Hindi translation of the Constitution (aligned with Central Acts' Hindi terminology conventions, incorporating all amendments made before publication), and a Hindi translation of every English-language amendment made afterward. (2) Such translations are construed to mean the same as the English original - the President must revise any part causing interpretive difficulty. (3) The published translation is deemed the authoritative Hindi text for all purposes.
Added by the 58th Amendment (1987), this created an official, authoritative Hindi-language version of the entire Constitution - not just an informal translation, but one that carries the same authoritative legal status as the English text, ensuring Hindi speakers have a genuinely authoritative version of the Constitution's text available in their language.
This is why an official Hindi-language edition of the Constitution isn't merely a convenience translation - it carries genuine authoritative legal status equal to the English version, thanks to this specific constitutional provision.
