State Government
The Governor may, by public notification, direct that this Chapter's provisions (and any rules made under it) apply, from a specified date, to any class of magistrates in the State, as they apply to persons in the state's judicial service - subject to any exceptions or modifications specified in the notification.
This gives the Governor flexibility to extend this chapter's judicial-independence protections (like High Court control over postings and promotions) to categories of magistrates who might not otherwise be automatically covered, adapting the framework to a state's specific magistracy structure.
This provision has been used to bring certain classes of magistrates under the same High Court administrative oversight that applies to the regular judicial service, ensuring consistent judicial independence protections across a state's judicial officers.
