State Government
Members of a State's Legislative Assembly and Legislative Council are entitled to salaries and allowances the state Legislature determines by law, and until then, at rates applicable immediately before the Constitution's commencement to the corresponding Province's Legislative Assembly members.
This mirrors Article 106 at the state level: MLA/MLC pay is set by the state's own Legislature through ordinary law, giving each state flexibility to set its own legislator compensation.
This is why different states periodically pass their own separate laws revising MLA salaries, allowances, and pensions, rather than following one uniform nationwide pay scale for state legislators.
