Union Government
In this Chapter and in Chapter V of Part VI, references to a substantial question of law about interpreting this Constitution include references to interpreting the Government of India Act, 1935, or any Order in Council or order made under it, or the Indian Independence Act, 1947, or any order made under it.
This is a technical drafting provision clarifying that when this chapter refers to "constitutional interpretation" questions, that also covers interpreting certain pre-independence colonial-era laws that the Constitution builds upon - relevant mainly for older cases involving that earlier legal framework.
This provision is largely of historical/technical interest today, relevant mainly to older cases that needed to interpret the pre-1950 Government of India Act, 1935 alongside the new Constitution.
