An appeal lies to the Supreme Court from any High Court judgment, decree, or final order (civil, criminal, or other) if the High Court certifies under Article 134A that the case involves a substantial question of law about interpreting the Constitution.
If a case decided by a High Court raises a genuinely significant question about how to interpret the Constitution, the High Court can certify it as such, opening the door for it to be appealed directly to the Supreme Court.
A High Court ruling on whether a particular state law violates a specific Fundamental Right could be certified under this article, letting the losing party take that constitutional question straight to the Supreme Court on appeal.
