What is this scam?

Illegal instant-loan apps are a massive problem in India. These apps lend small amounts at exorbitant interest rates (often 300–500% annually), then use vicious psychological tactics to collect — including accessing your contacts and sending defamatory messages to your family, friends, and employer. These apps are illegal under RBI guidelines and many have been banned — but new ones keep appearing.

How it works — step by step

   App requires access to your contacts, photos, and location as part of the 'loan application.'

2. 2

   Small loan of ₹2,000–10,000 is disbursed instantly — no paperwork, no credit check.

3. 3

   Within days, aggressive recovery agents call and threaten. If you miss a payment, they call everyone in your contacts.

   They send your photo (sometimes edited to be defamatory) to your family and employer.

   Recovery charges, processing fees, and interest compound rapidly — a ₹5,000 loan becomes ₹50,000 in weeks.

🚩 Red flags — warning signs

• ⚠️Loan disbursed with no proper KYC, credit check, or paperwork
• ⚠️Interest rates above 36% per annum — RBI guidelines require fair rates
• ⚠️Recovery agents who threaten or send messages to your contacts
• ⚠️App not listed on RBI's approved NBFC list
