Impossible returns that destroy life savings and families
Investment scams promise returns that no legitimate investment can provide โ typically 2% to 5% per day or 30% to 300% annually โ through fake trading platforms, fraudulent apps, or Ponzi schemes. These scams have destroyed the savings of millions of Indian families across every economic class. They are particularly dangerous because they often pay genuine returns in the beginning โ using later investors' money to pay earlier investors โ before collapsing.
Victim is approached via WhatsApp or Telegram with promises of exceptional returns on stock trading, forex, cryptocurrency, or a 'proprietary' investment scheme.
Victim is invited to a group where dozens of members post screenshots of large 'profits' โ all fake accounts run by the scammer.
Victim invests a small amount and sees 'profits' on a dashboard โ this is fabricated. The money is already gone.
Encouraged to invest larger amounts โ victims often take personal loans, sell property, borrow from family, or liquidate retirement savings.
When victim tries to withdraw โ platform demands 'tax payment,' 'KYC verification fee,' or 'security deposit' to release funds.
Platform eventually goes offline. Perpetrators move to a new platform with new victims.
