Attempts to Commit Offences
Voluntarily concealing a known design to commit an imprisonment-punishable offence (or falsely representing facts about it), intending or knowing it will likely facilitate that offence, is punished with up to one-fourth of the offence's maximum sentence (if committed) or up to one-eighth (if not) - or fine, or both.
This mirrors Sections 58-59 but for less serious, imprisonment-only offences, setting proportionally lighter (but still real) penalties for concealing knowledge of these lesser crimes.
Someone who learns of a planned lesser offence (punishable only by imprisonment, not death or life imprisonment) and deliberately conceals that knowledge to help it succeed faces proportionally lighter, but still real, penalties under this section compared to concealing a more serious crime.
