General Provisions
Where an act would otherwise be an offence but isn't (due to the actor's youth, immaturity, unsoundness of mind, intoxication, or misconception), the same right of private defence applies against that act as if it were a genuine offence.
Your right to defend yourself doesn't disappear just because your attacker happens to be legally excused from responsibility (like a person of unsound mind) - you can still defend yourself against their dangerous act exactly as you could against an ordinary attacker.
If someone of unsound mind attacks you, you retain the full right of private defence against that attack, exactly as you would if a mentally competent person attacked you in the same way.
