Offences Relating to Religion
With deliberate intent to wound someone's religious feelings, uttering a word/making a sound/gesture, or placing an object, in that person's hearing/sight, is punished with up to 1 year's imprisonment, fine, or both.
This is the individual-targeted counterpart to Section 299's class-directed offence - deliberately insulting a specific individual's religious feelings, rather than an entire community's.
Deliberately directing a religiously insulting gesture or word at a specific individual, intending to wound their religious feelings, is punishable under this section.
