Offences Affecting Public Health, Safety and Convenience
Driving/riding on a public way so rashly/negligently as to endanger human life or likely cause hurt/injury is punished with up to 6 months' imprisonment, up to ₹1,000 fine, or both.
This is the general road-safety offence for dangerous driving that endangers others, distinct from the more specific hit-and-run and negligence-causing-death provisions elsewhere in the BNS.
Reckless, dangerous driving on a public road that endangers pedestrians or other road users, even without causing actual injury, is punishable under this baseline provision.
