False Evidence and Offences Against Public Justice
Knowing/believing an offence committed, causing evidence of it to disappear (or giving false information) to screen the offender, is punished based on the underlying offence's severity: up to 7 years plus fine if the offence is death-punishable; up to 3 years plus fine if life/10-year punishable; or up to a quarter of the offence's maximum term (or fine, or both) otherwise.
This criminalises destroying evidence or lying to protect an offender, with the penalty scaled to how serious the underlying, shielded offence was.
Helping someone hide a murder weapon, knowing they committed murder, specifically to shield them from punishment, triggers this section's highest penalty tier given murder's severity.
