False Evidence and Offences Against Public Justice
Giving/fabricating false evidence intending or knowing likely to cause a conviction for an offence punishable with life imprisonment or 7+ years, is punished the same as a person actually convicted of that underlying offence would be.
This ties the perjurer's punishment directly to the severity of the false conviction they were trying to cause - the more serious the offence they tried to frame someone for, the more serious their own punishment.
Someone who gives false evidence trying to get an innocent person convicted of dacoity (carrying up to life imprisonment) faces that same potential punishment themselves under this section.
