Offences Relating to Currency and Government Stamps
A mint employee who acts (or omits a legally required act) intending to cause coins from that mint to differ in weight or composition from the legally fixed standard, is punished with up to 7 years' imprisonment plus fine.
This holds mint employees themselves criminally liable for deliberately debasing or altering the legally mandated standard of coins they produce.
A mint worker who deliberately alters the metal composition of coins away from the legally fixed standard commits this specific insider offence.
