Offences Relating to Currency and Government Stamps
Counterfeiting, or knowingly performing part of the process of counterfeiting, any coin, Government revenue stamp, currency-note, or bank-note, is punished with life imprisonment or up to 10 years' imprisonment plus fine.
This is the core anti-counterfeiting provision covering currency, coins, and Government stamps, with severe penalties reflecting the serious threat counterfeiting poses to monetary stability and public trust.
Producing fake currency notes, or even performing just one step of the counterfeiting process (like printing plates), triggers this severe offence.
