Offences Against the State
Assaulting, wrongfully restraining, or overawing (by criminal force or its show) the President or a Governor, intending to compel or prevent them from exercising a lawful power, is punished with up to 7 years' imprisonment plus fine.
This provides specific enhanced protection for the President and State Governors against force or intimidation aimed at influencing their official decisions.
Physically threatening a Governor to force a particular official decision constitutes this specific offence, separate from ordinary assault.
