Offences Against the Human Body
(1) Kidnapping/abducting someone intending they be murdered or put in danger of being murdered: life imprisonment or up to 10 years plus fine. (2) Kidnapping/abducting/detaining with threats of death/hurt, or causing hurt/death, to compel a government/organisation/person to act (or pay ransom): death, or life imprisonment plus fine. (3) Kidnapping/abducting to secretly and wrongfully confine someone: up to 7 years plus fine. (4) Kidnapping/abducting to subject someone to grievous hurt, slavery, or unnatural lust: up to 10 years plus fine.
This provides a graduated set of enhanced kidnapping offences based on the specific dangerous purpose behind the kidnapping - murder, ransom/coercion, secret confinement, or subjecting the victim to further serious harm - with ransom-kidnapping resulting in actual death or hurt carrying the possibility of the death penalty.
This is the key legal basis for prosecuting kidnap-for-ransom cases, where the ransom demand alone (combined with threats of death or hurt) already triggers severe liability, with the death penalty available if the victim is actually harmed or killed.
