Offences Against the Human Body
(1) Causing permanent/partial damage, deformity, burns, maiming, disfigurement, disability, or a persistent vegetative state via acid or similar corrosive/burning substances is punished with rigorous imprisonment of 10 years to life, plus a victim-directed fine for medical treatment. (2) Attempting to throw/administer acid (or attempting similar means) with such intent is punished with 5-7 years' imprisonment plus fine. "Acid" broadly includes any acidic/corrosive/burning substance capable of causing injury leading to scarring/disfigurement/disability - the damage need not be irreversible to qualify.
This is a dedicated, severe anti-acid-attack provision (added in response to a documented pattern of acid attacks, mostly against women) with mandatory victim compensation for medical treatment built directly into the sentencing, and a separate, still serious penalty even for attempted acid attacks that don't succeed.
An acid attack victim is entitled under this section to court-ordered compensation specifically earmarked for their medical treatment, paid directly to them as part of the offender's sentence - not merely a general fine to the state.
